What is the difference between small gherkins and gherkins?
Pikuli (small gherkins) is an unusual name for cucumbers for the Russian customer, and the question often arises: what's the difference between them and  gherkins? Firstly, the name "pikuli" comes from the English pickle and in translation means salted/pickled vegetables, which means that they are very small in size. So, the size is the most important difference.

For marinated pikuli production uses cucumbers that are only 1-2 days old and their size doesn't exceed 3 cm. Gherkins are already formed cucumbers that are 5-9 cm in length.

The taste of cucumbers differs, depending on the marinade; due to their size, pikuli have the sweetest and richest pickled taste. As a snack, they are often mixed with chopped pickled cauliflower, carrots, garlic, etc., and it is also convenient to add whole pickles to sandwiches, rolls, toast, and hamburgers.

In conclusion, when you choosing between pikuli and gherkins, you need to choose in which way you would like to use and serve it.
