One of the most important routes for the "SKATERT-SAMOBRANKA" brand is Volgograd-Moscow. Our production facility for canned goods, "Samobranka," is located in the city of Volzhsky, Volgograd Region, while our management company, BVK Group, is based in the Moscow Region.
Because of this, we always try to hold our major events in both regions simultaneously. This year, we bid farewell to winter by taking part in the fairs for the wide Maslenitsa (Pancake Week) celebrations in Volzhsky Park (Volzhsky city) and on the grounds of the Greenwood Business Park.
Despite the frosty weather, the holidays were filled with joy, featuring a multitude of activities, traditional circle dances, master classes, and, of course, the ceremonial burning of the Maslenitsa effigy.
Every visitor had the chance to try pickles and marinades from the "SKATERT-SAMOBRANKA" brand: crunchy cucumbers, flavorful tomatoes, pattypan squashes, jalapeños, and more. During the tastings, we shared insights about our production, and many were surprised to learn that both our raw ingredients and production are 100% Russian. Guests could enjoy our products alongside freshly made pancakes, which we baked right on the spot, handing them out piping hot to visitors.
We also held a fun contest to see which product was the crowd favorite. The winners were the “Honey” marinated cherry tomatoes, which narrowly beat out our “Crispy” pickled cucumbers.
At the Greenwood location, Maslenitsa coincided with the Chinese New Year celebrations—a rare and fascinating cultural collaboration that led to a true exchange of traditions.
The event featured the burning of the Maslenitsa effigy, plenty of pancakes, and a traditional "Lion Awakening" ceremony, where red symbols were painted onto the lions' faces with brushes to "bring them to life" and bestow good luck for the officially arrived Year of the Horse. The festival was attended by prominent business figures and officials from China, to whom we proudly presented our gift sets of traditional Russian pickles.
In short, we gave winter a spirited send-off and are now fully ready to welcome the warmth of spring.
